Dave Colclough

Dave Colclough

One of the many benefits of introducing a child to a hobby at an early age is that if they take an interest to that hobby, the truly talented ones will begin to master that hobby.  For Dave Colclough, his childhood brought him a deck of cards, where he would pick up the game of poker.  And when the time came, it was a surprise to no one that the Welshman known as “El Blondie” became a success at the poker tables.

Colclough is primarily a cash game player with emphasis on Pot Limit Omaha.  His favorite variation is 6-card Omaha Hi, which is a popular adaptation of Omaha, commonly found in Europe.  Dave has had several successful sessions playing Limit and PLO both online, and in tournament play.

In tournament play, Dave ranks 147th on the all time earnings list with more than $2.5 million in live tournament play, and amongst his countrymen, Dave is the most successful Tournament poker player ever, having more than $600,000 in career earnings than 2nd place.  In 2003, Dave cashed in an amazing 33 tournaments en route to setting a record with an unbelievable 26 Final tables.  Needless to say, he was a shoe in for 2003 European Player of the Year honors.

While Dave has yet to capture a World Series of Poker Bracelet, he does have 17 WSOP cashes on his resume, including 6 final tables.  Twice Dave finished runner up in good fields at the WSOP, once in the 2000 $2,000 Buy in PLO tournament, taking home $89,300 for the runner up to James Athanas, in a Final table that saw 11 time Bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth go out in 6th place.  His other runner up finish was in the 2003 $1,500 buy in Limit Omaha event, where Dave won $31,900 in a field of 120 players.  This time, his final table included ‘the Poker Brat’ Phil Hellmuth again, as he finished in 3rd place, and poker sensation Men “The Master” Nguyen.

Dave also has 2 cashes at World Poker Tour events, including 1 Final Table, a 6th place finish in WPT Season III at the Grand Prix de Paris, where Dave won another $102,717.

Dave’s has a number of European titles under his belt including 1st place finishes in the 2000 European Poker Classic in London for $116,667, The 2003 Summer  Tournament in Paris for $75,920, The 2003 Midland Masters in Walsall for $91,993, The 2004 European Omaha Championships in Paris for $88,122, and the No Limit Hold Em’ Main Event from the European Poker Championships in London for $182,628.
