Joe at the Sky Sports Poker Millions

Joe at the Sky Sports Poker Millions

About 7 miles North West of Charing Cross in London, UK, is a town called Hendon.  A small London Suburb of approximately 60,000 or so patrons, Hendon is home to perhaps the single most competitive home poker game in all of Europe, and perhaps around the globe for that matter. The Hendon mob was a name forged for the four players who gathered at the home game located at Joe Beever’s flat in Hendon. It is said that the name was started by the unlucky players that would routinely lose their chip stacks to them at tournaments throughout London.  Ross Boatman and Barney Boatman, along with WSOP Bracelet winner Ram Vaswani would meet at Joe’s place for a poker game, and develop an unbreakable friendship.  They would travel to British Poker Tournaments together, and cheer each other on the deeper that they would go in tournaments, which happened quite a lot.

Along with hosting the home game, Joe Beevers is actually the only member of the Hendon Mob who resides in Hendon.  Joe has found multiple successes playing in poker tournaments throughout Europe, and also became the first member of the Hendon Mob to score a cash at the World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas. Joe finished 151st in the 2005 Main Event for $46,245. That was Joe’s 3rd cash of that WSOP, and 6th overall.  Since then, Joe’s WSOP resume has grown to include 15 total cashes for $209,718.

But Joe’s success at the Poker table extends far beyond the WSOP, as he’s totaled more than $2.4 million in career tournament winnings around the globe.  In fact, 2007 was a breakout year for Beevers, as it saw Joe winning the Sky Sports Poker Million, taking home the $1 million first place prize.  He also won the Great British Poker Tour Final event in Bristol, and made the final table of the WSOPE H.O.R.S.E. event, finishing in 7th place.  In all, 2007 accounted for more than $1.2 million in tournament poker winnings for Joe.

Joe’s other big cashes include winning the 1997 Master Classics of Poker, the 2001 Irish Prelim Open, the 2002 European Omaha Championship, the 2003 Irish Open, and the 2004 Four Queens Championship Event in Las Vegas.  Joe also has 1 WPT cash to his credit, a Final table at the 2005 WPT World Championship at the Bellagio, where Joe finished in 7th place for $188,710.

On Sunday November 15th, Joe will be among many of the Full Tilt Poker Pro’s to put a Bad Beat on Cancer in the Twitter Poker Tour Charity event to Benefit BBoC.  The tournament will include several of Full Tilt Poker’s top pro’s.  For your chance to play against Joe and the other top Full Tilt Pro’s, register for the tournament on Full Tilt Poker.
