Lee Watkinson joins the TPT Charity Tournament for Bad Beat on Cancer
Lee Watkinson
Final Tables are an area of tournaments that poker players aspire to get to. And there are few players that have had as many appearances at major tournament final tables as Full Tilt Poker Pro Lee Watkinson. In fact, with more than $4.1 million won in live tournaments, Lee is ranked 65th on the all time money list.
Despite his modest temperament and spotlight shyness, Lee is the consummate poker aggressor at the felt. His style of play is well regarded in the tournament poker fields, and he’s overcome many of them to see giant cashes in both the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour.
Lee’s first cash however was back in 1994 at the Los Angeles Poker Classic $500 buy in Limit Hold Em’ event, where Lee bubbled the final table in 10th place. It took several years before Lee would return to the poker scene. In fact, Lee’s next live tournament score wasn’t until 2003 when Lee finished 4th at the California State Poker Championships.
In 2004, Lee caught fire, starting with a deep run in the Bellagio Weekly where Lee finished runner up. From there, Lee made a deep run at the WPT No Limit Hold em’ championship at Bellagio $25k buy in event. His 43rd place finish netted Lee $49,899 and the good run was on. Lee went on to cash 3 times at the WSOP in May, a 4th place finish in the $5,000 No Limit Hold em’, a 2nd place finish in the $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha event, and a deep run in the Main Event, finishing 113th.
But the good summer kept rolling. As soon as the WSOP ended in 2004, Lee found success in the WPT events in July and August, finishing runner up in the $10,000 No Limit Hold Em event at the Mirage in Las Vegas, and Runner up yet again in the $5,000 Legends of Poker Event in Los Angeles to the Legendary Doyle Brunson.
Lee finally got the WSOP “Runner Up Monkey” off his back when he took first place and the bracelet in the 2006 WSOP $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha Event, besting a field of more than 200 of the best PLO players ever assembled. In 2007, Lee made the Final table of the WSOP Main Event, finishing in 8th place for a $585,699.
In all, Lee has 16 WSOP Cashes for more than $2 million in career earnings, including 8 final tables, and 1 bracelet. He also has 7 cashes in the WPT, including 3 final tables and almost $1.5 million in earnings from the WPT.
Lee will be joining the Twitter Poker Tour on November 15th in the Bad Beat on Cancer Charity event on Full Tilt Poker. Join the tournament now for chance to play against Lee and the other Pro’s on Full Tilt Poker, and help put Bad Beat on Cancer.
