2010 WSOP – Day 1C Recap
2,314 was the number of the day. The World Series of Poker continued to roll along with the Day One – Part Three. This time, 2,314 runners gave it the old college try at parlaying their $10,000 into an estimated $9 million 1st place prize. We won’t know the exact figures until registration on Day 1d closes, but so far, with today’s totals there have been more than 4,900 players enter into the field, and Day 1d should be the biggest of them. Early estimates have the figure for this year between the 7,000 mark, and inching close to the 8,000 mark.
As for the action on Day 1c, it was overwhelming. Several stars would grace the Amazon and Pavillion rooms in the Rio, including the likes of former champions Johhny Chan, Carlos Mortensen, Joe Cada, Jerry Yang, Scotty Nguyen, Huck Seed, and eventually, in Hellmuthian fashion, Phil Hellmuth himself. While Chan, Cada, Nguyen and Mortensen would gather enough chips to see a day 2, Hellmuth, Seed, and Yang would find themselves on the rail.

Other players hitting the rail in day 1c include the likes of Tom Dwan, Lee Childs, Alex Outhred, Isabelle Mercier, Shuan Deeb, Jeff Madsen, Faraz Jaka, Ville Wahlbeck, Scott Fischman, Steve Begleiter, Dario Minieri, and Men “The Master” Nguyen.
Other players making it through and resuming action on Friday on day 2a include the likes David Williams, Hoyt Corkins, Robert Mizrachi, Billy Kopp, Liz Lieu, Amanda Baker, Daniel Negreanu, Patrik Antonius, Sammy Farha and Annie Duke. In all around 1700 players survived to see another day of action at the Rio, and have their hopes still alive at the possibility of winning the last bracelet of the 2010 WSOP. Tomorrow’s Day 1d is the final day to register for the Main Event, and early numbers have the grand total of the tournament somewhere between 6700 and 7000, with the possibility to get to 7500 a very real possibility. Regardless, this event has etched a place a history as the 2nd largest live tournament field in history.
